For our food craving of the week we will start by congratulating and thanking Dad, Paula, Miles, and Max for actually creating the Sweet and Salty Tacos, you can see their video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WItzmEbBrjU&hd=1
. We had trouble accessing this, if you do too then just try ¨My First Project¨on youtube.
This week our creation is called A Poor Man's Thanksgiving or Super Poutine. To create this dish cook ramen noodels but do not use the flavoring. Strain the noodles and put two slices of pepperjack cheese on top. At this point the reader can choose between placing chopped up McDonald's double cheese burger or (for the health conscious) you can place a home cooked large hamburger patty on top. If the second option, then pepperjack cheese, tomato, onion, and avacodo are needed. Then, regardless of which option, ladle lots of gravy over the entire creation. This should be topped off with a large scoop of cranberry sauce.

Since we live on a farm Camden and I have taken to the simple life. Among other things, this includes bad hygiene. We haven't shaved in a month and we rarely wash our clothes or our bodies. The shower here is literally in the kitchen but separated by thin cracked bamboo. It is also freezing. So instead of ¨conventional¨ showering we've turned to nature. Some afternoons we hike up the Rìo Vascún and strip down in a really powerful waterfall. It is refreshing, beautiful, and sometimes difficult to stand under the force of the water. Afterwards we dry off in the warm sun on volcanic rocks. We also get all our clean drinking water from this area.

This week was a ¨party¨ week of sorts. Depending on the country and their economic standing people party in many differnt ways. The dinner party is a favorite in almost every culture and for good reason. When we try and think of what fun way we could spend our little money, food is always the first thing to come to mind. So on friday we bought 2 kilos of beef! For us vegetarians by circumstance this was amazing. We invited all our friends and cooked burgers on the fire along with papachino fries. There was also a homemade guava rum juice so the whole group had a great time. Our friends (the Canadians) brought homemade cokies and pudding. Delicious. We went clubing later. To add to our already poor dancing, all of us were too full to walk normally. The food madness continued on Sunday when we were invited to Rosa's house. Rosa works at the farm as Carol's maid and usually eats lunch with us. We were quick to befriend her after tasting her sambo soup. She made us a traditional dish called Llaping Gatcho. The pictures probably explain its deliciousness. None of us could move afterward. As if all this food wasn´t too much, the Canadians invited us to lasagna and cheesecake on tuesday. After eating two large trays of lasagna, a brownie, and a large piece of cheesecake topped with strawberry sauce we watch Robin Williams stand up. Ben fell asleep with his mouth open and stomach out for most of it.

  1. At last the much-awaited blog! I figured out how to make our youtube video public. Changed the name to Ben and Cammie's Weekly Fantasy (1).
Your descriptions of food make it a bit hard to imagine you're ever actually hungry.
Glad to know the "clean" drinking source comes off your bath water.
We'll think about your creation of the week!
    love, dad
